DescriptionAs
an accomplished mathematics teacher, I need to have a deep understand of the
concepts, principles, techniques, and reasoning methods of mathematics and use
this knowledge to create curriculum goals and form instructions and assessments
that will benefit my students. In addition to this, I must understand the
significance of making connections with mathematical ideas and other content
areas, as well as the world outside of school.

As
an accomplished mathematics teacher, I need to use my knowledge of human
development and individual students to guide planning and instructional
decisions in my classroom. I must understand the significance of prior
knowledge and cultural backgrounds and recognize that individual students have
learning differences. In addition, I need to understand that student attitudes
and aspirations as well as community expectations and values have an impact on my
students learning.

As
an accomplished mathematics teacher, I will use my knowledge of pedagogy in
addition to my knowledge of mathematics to make curricular decisions. Along
with this, I will use my knowledge to develop instructional strategies and
assessment plans, choose appropriate materials and resources for my classroom,
and stimulate and facilitate student learning through a wide range of
practices.

As
an accomplished mathematics teacher, I must create an environment in which
students can be actively engaged learners as well as want to show willingness
to take intellectual risks. The classroom environment must be safe and
comfortable and provide students with the opportunity to develop
self-confidence, self-efficacy, and values mathematics.

As
an accomplished mathematics teacher, I must develop my own a well as my
students’ abilities to reason and think mathematically. Through this, I will
provide students with the opportunity to investigate patterns, discover
relationships between concepts, formulate and sole problems, justify answers,
communicate concludes, and question and extend on their thinking.

As
an accomplished mathematics teacher, I must incorporate a wide range of
assessment methods into my classroom to promote the learning of all my
students. Each assessment must align with educational goals and provide
opportunities for all students to reflect on their own strengths and
weaknesses.

|
As
an accomplished mathematics teacher, I must regularly reflect on my own
teaching, how I teach, and how my teaching impacts my student learning. I must
be aware of changes and learn new mathematics and mathematical pedagogy to
continue my improving on my own knowledge and practice.
